Bruce Marshall presentation at the 2013 Maine convention talking about the challenge.

The Apex 2 Challenge is seeking to place highpointers on top of every summit on June 29, 2019. Bruce Marshall led the effort on Apex 1 which occurred on June 29, 1994. He has a book for free download as well as details of the upcoming event on apexchallenge.com

The Apex website has this description:

The purpose of this website is to promote and encourage participation in Apex Challenge 2. An Apex Challenge event organizes climbers in all 50 states to summit their respective state high points on or about a certain date. Apex Challenge 2, to be held in 2019 from June 29 to July 4, is the 25th anniversary of the first event in 1994.

The vision of this event is to promote American spirit and national pride by bringing people together in celebrating America’s great outdoors. When President Theodore Roosevelt saw the Grand Canyon he remarked, “Leave it as it is. You can not improve on it.” This quotation speaks to the beauty of our country and the responsibility of its people to preserve it for future generation

Bruce described the challenge at the 2012 convention.

  1. Wow! I didn’t realize anyone recorded my presentation. Thanks.

This has the potential of being a very big deal. I do realize I can’t do it alone.
I am totally open to feedback, ideas, and any help from anybody.
