Details of Urbanski Farms Convention Kickoff Bar-B-Que on July 29

Urbanski Farms
The 2009 Highpointers Convention kicks off at 4 pm, Wednesday, July 29. with a bar-b-que and East/West softball game at Urbanski Farm’s, 3130 Church Road, Mountain Top, Pennsylvania.

People can camp on the grounds. It is 90 minutes from the convention hotel at the Best Western Hunts Landing in Matamoras, Pennsylvania.

Food and drink will be provided.

We have great plans for this year’s Highpointers Convention at High Point, New Jersey on July 30th to August 1st. Since the Woodstock Music Festival nearby is celebrating its 40th anniversary in August we hope our event will be very groovy. We do want to take you higher!

Signed Frank Ashley First Highpoint Book Up For Silent Auction

A signed copy of Frank Ashley’s “Highpoints of the United States” (the first book devoted exclusively to climbing state highpoints) is up for silent auction at the
The Highpointers Foundation website.

Bidding closes at 6 PM, July 31, 2009 during the Highpointers Convention at High Point, New Jersey.
The Highpointers Foundation You do not have to be present to win (but we hope you will be).

The featured item this quarter is an original, signed, “Frank Ashley Guidebook” from 1970 (author Frank Ashley passed away in the year 2000 so this is a rare opportunity to score the first state highpoint guidebook).

This treasured item can only be seen in the libraries of a few venerable longtime highpointers. Very few copies were originally printed.

Highpointers 2009 Convention Registration Form

We have great plans for this year’s Convention at High Point State Park in New Jersey on July 30th to August 1st.

Since the Woodstock Music Festival nearby is celebrating its 40th anniversary in August we hope our event will be very groovy.  We do want to take you higher!

Our “Kosmic Konvention” includes climbing the Gunks, a cookout at the world famous Urbanski farm, an excellent New York City adventure where he hope to show off our threads on the “Today Show”,  a tubing adventure down the Delaware River in the Delaware Gap National Recreation Area to visit the tripoint marker of New York/Pennsylvania/New Jersey.  We will have seminars on climbing and safety.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!

Any Highpointer Club member interested in doing a “PowerPoint Highpointing Presentation” should contact Ad/Marketing Committee Chair Bill Deitzer.

Bill, along with his “Better Half” Rosemary, would like to also thank the many Club members for their Highpointing pictures and “Hero Shots.”

So far there are eleven presenters that have volunteered their time to do this.
