For the past few years Hoosier Hill had been a bit forboding. The summit in a clump of woods was down an overgrown trail. You took your life in your hands climbing a broken stile over a fence. And you always risked getting stuck in the mud when you pulled off the road.

The Spring 2005 (Issue #68) of Highpointers Apex to Zenith is of course spectacular as usual. There is sad news with the passing of the dead of highpointing Paul Zumwalt and Iowa highpointer owner Merrill Sterler. But there’s also great news about the South Carolina purchase of the Sassafras summit. And there’s some unusual news including the for sale signs on the Rhode Island summit; Kevin Foster’s new movie; and a report of driving 69,224 miles for 41 highpoints. Members of the Highpointers Club,
It seems that at this time of year, I have the same message. In this issue of the Newsletter, you will receive a ballot for election of five members to serve on the Highpointers Club Board of Directors. Remember, the Board members you elect this year will serve for three years. During that time, they will comprise one-third of the Board which sets the policies of the Highpointers Club. Voting is simple, it just takes a little time. Read the candidate’s statements and vote for whom you believe to be best qualified. I urge all of you to exercise your right to vote. It is your Club and voting is a way for all of you to participate in what makes the Club great.
