Herzog’s classic book about the first conquest of an 8,000 meter peak in 1950.

This is the most iconic narrative in mountaineering literature, and the first to become a bestseller. The French team discovered the approach to Annapurna and, with great difficulty and drama, made the first ascent. Annapurna was not climbed again until 1970.

A rare signed hardcover edition!

Herzog, who lost most of his fingers and toes on the climb, signed his books with great difficulty. Herzog died on December 13, 2012, at age 93, and this book became even more valuable.

The dust jacket is in Fair-Good shape. This is the US Edition – 3rd printing in 1953. The book was first published in 1952 in France, the UK, and the USA.

This is one of the best selling mountaineering books of all time!
