I tried to summit Driskill Mountain last Saturday night 3/18 on my trip back from visiting Big Bend National Park in TX. It was dark and raining but it was right off of I-20 so we had to go. When we got to the church we parked and got some warm clothes on. There was a man blocking the road/trail to the summit with his truck. It looked like he was digging a grave at the cemetary but why would he be digging a grave in the dark when it was cold and raining? When we approached him to ask him if we were in the right area he threatenly shouted don’t come any closer! We asked him if this was the way to the HP and he said “we were in the right place at the wrong time” and we had better leave.

Not to scare anyone of from this HP but I’d recommend doing it in the day. It sure freaked us out cause that guy didn’t seem like he was supposed to be there. Who knows what he was doing.
