This has proven one of the more elusive HPs for me. I’ve been near it several times, but that was before I got into highpointing. My climbing partner and I ALMOST drove from Cheaha Mtn on a highpointing trip in December,2000. I tought about making the detour several years ago while returning to Asheville, NC from Tampa, FL–but an ICE STORM of all things pushed me to eastern seaboard route! Finally, my girlfriend and I took a winter trip to St. Auguastine and Tampa and bit the bullet, driving up the west coast to Tallahassee and on to Lakewood Park. It was well worth it! The site is really quite beautiful, with a gently rolling vista, a neat monument and nice little park.Cotton fibres blowing across the road made it seem really Southern.
The date and time was January 4,2012 at 11:46 am cst… damn almost twelve years to make the LOWEST HP!!!
      Cheers!
