I enjoyed Timm’s after the Ill. convention last year–climbed both towers. The cabin atop the one w/the ladder was padlocked but the walk outside it was higher >the other tower, & you could see over the treetops. Also visited Charles Mound (of course), Kanopolis and Wyalusing State Parks (nice hikes, respectable delta-h, take bug repellent), Effigy Mounds N.M. & other points of interest including 3 tourist (preserved) railways. One in Ia. had a Chinese steam locomotive built in Datong in the 80s, 1980s not 1880s.
