Highpointers Club Exhibit at Bradford Washburn American Mountaineering Museum in Golden

Be sure to see the Highpointers Club permanent exhibit at the Bradford Washburn American Mountaineering Museum (BWAMM) in the American Mountaineering Center at 710 10th Street in Golden, Colorado.

The idea of having a highpoint museum was originally Jakk Longacres and he wanted it on his property on the approach to Taum Sauk. Jakk’s daughter Lorie donated land for the museum to the club after his death in 2002. We have erected a plaque there but have chosen to make our exhibits in a more visited area nearer the club headquarters in Golden, Colorado.

We are a junior partner with American Alpine Club, Colorado Mountain Club, and National Geographic Society in the Golden complex.

Our participation was made possible by money raised by the Highpointers Foundation. The Foundation also put together the exhibits.

The museum opened Feb. 16, 2008 in what once was the former Golden High School.
