There were many magic moments. The convention will also be remembered for being tied to the sad events in New Orleans. Several club members were unable to attend as their homes were destroyed. For those already in the Northeast, Katrina will be remembered for creating such major storms that closed access to Katahidn with horizontal 8 inch rains. And of course there was the huge spike in gasoline prices.
