I ascended Campbell Hill, the Highpoint of Ohio at 1,550 feet, on Thursday evening, October 16th, 2003. It was my 11th state highpoint.
After leaving Hoosier High Point at approximately 5:20PM I arrived at Campbell Hill, on the grounds of the Hi Point Career Center, at 7:00PM. It was 50 degrees and raining lightly. There was barely enough daylight left to see the surrounding area but the highpoint itself was well lighted. This highpoint was very well maintained and the first I have seen at night with artificial lighting.
I continued east and stopped for the night at a Motel 6 in Columbus, OH.
The next day it continued to rain so instead of heading for Mt. Davis in Pennsylvania I decided to visit the Johnstown Flood National Memorial in western Pennsylvania on my way to my Dads house in New Jersey. It was very interesting with excellent exhibits and displays.
