Schedule of Highpointers Club Convention on Sept. 2-3

Registration for the Highpointers Club Convention is closed. However I am including this for event information.

Schedule of Non-NH2005 Activities
Based on the feed back forms that we received through April 2005 we have organized the following non-2005 HP activities, scheduled before and after the convention. All non-NH2005 activities are at your own risk and free of charge except for the SOLO course and Croydon Peak, the Sullivan County highpoint. If you did not already return a feedback form, please indicate your interest below when you send in your registration fee by August 1, at the latest. Sorry, but tri-point marker did not make the cut, although there is abundant information on the WWW for locating these.

Wednesday and Thursday, August 31 and September 1
SOLO Wilderness First Aid Course

(two days, $75 @ half normal cost). May include slide lecture on Thursday evening. Check out SOLO’s cool website at soloschools.com. Please send separate registation and check by July1 as minimum number required.
How many in your group will participate?

Friday, September 2
Presidential Range Traverse (begins at 4 a.m. at Appalachia Parking Lot)

Eight 4,000 foot peaks including Mount Washington about 21 miles with over 7,500 feet vertical gain. Will depart trailhead at 6 a.m. Be prepared for a 12+ hour days on the trail. You will probably miss the Friday evening social at Purity Springs.

Please arrive at the Appalachia parking lot on Rt. 2 about 8 miles W of Gorham, NH, at 4 am, so that we can take a couple of hours to spot cars at the Cog RR base (for those who wish to hike only the northern 3 or 4 peaks) and Crawford Notch (for those who wish to hike the entire range). The full range hike could take anywhere from 10 to 15 or more hours, so it is unlikely you will get back to Purity Spring Resort in time for the Ice Cream Social and Brian Fowler’s “Old Man” talk, unless you are a speedy hiker.

Friday, September 2
Sullivan County Highpoint Trip to Croydon Peak

Sunday, September 4
