Noted Author, Historian and Musician Added to South Dakota Konvention Lineup

2024 (SD) Highpointers Club Konvention Chair Mark Styczynski announced the addition of noted author, historian and musician Donovin Sprague to the Konvention lineup.

Styczynski said Sprague will lead a program and a hike of sacred Indian Peak Bear Butte near Sturgis, S.D. on the morning of July 18.

Sprague, who is based in Rapid City, S.D., is the author of 10 historical books and has appeared in Time Magazine, New Yorker and National Geographic. He presents at major universities in the United States, Canada and Europe and received a Coat of Arms from the Queen of England. In addition, March 23rd has been recognized in Rapid City as “Donovin Sprague Day” for his work in American Indian/white relations. He is a Minnicoujou Lakota and is a history faculty member at Sheridan College in Wyoming and is the advisor for the Native American students.
