Kathy Dalsaso Mitchler and Alan Ritter received Vin Hoeman Awards at the Tennessee 2014 convention.
Here are the nominations:
Dave Covill has nominated the following candidate and here are his comments:
I can’t think of a single person who has done more for the Club, that has not already been recognized with a Vin Hoeman Award, than Kathy Dalsaso Mitchler. Kathy puts in many hours coordinating convention activities, and has done so since 2003. She is the “behind the scenes person” that John Mitchler counts on to keep him going. Kathy is the Liaison from the Foundation to the Club, a role that is often over-looked. Kathy is an active highpointer in her own right, and has been involved since she met John in 2003 and attended the IL convention and helped him organize it. Much of the 2012 OR convention was also successful due to her efforts, and she is working hard to help the Tennessee convention team. Kathy is also a Club Director, and a driving force behind many Club initiatives.
Roger Rowlett has made the following nomination and here are his comments:
I would like to nominate Alan Ritter for the Vin Hoeman Award. Alan has worked with Scout troops in St.Louis to maintain Jakk’s Glade on the Russell Mountain road on the approach way to Taum Sauk since its inception – even after his son left Scouting. The success at Jakk’s Glade would not have been possible without Alan’s effort. Alan has done this quietly without complaining or grandstanding. Alan has also served on the Highpointers Club Board of Directors for two terms.
Note that Stony Burk revised his nomination of Alan to be for the Vin Hoeman Award instead of the Frank Ashley Award.
Alan has been a club member for quite some time and has always volunteered to help in some capacity whether serving on the board of directors, helping with registration on the crew during conventions, holding seminars on knot tying and map and compass as well as been an active volunteer in Jakk’s Glade, regularly maintaining it. He has been steadfast in his commitment to serving the club above and beyond and is an inspiration to all.
Awards Chairman Comment: Alan is one of the folks who work behind the scenes and are seldom recognized for their efforts. In addition to Alan’s other activities, he has presented seminars at several Conventions and will do so again in Tennessee
